Our Story

Residential Placement Support Network

Residential Placement Support Network

I started Special Needs Motherhood with a simple goal in mind: to create a platform where special needs moms can find hope. Our story so far has been one of great trials and victories. The vital element of our own survival on this journey has been our faith in Jesus and building a strong support system. Our first special needs child, Jude, has autism, and now resides in the Lufkin State Supportive Living Center due to his aggressive behaviors. Mabel is our sixth born and has Down syndrome and medical needs. Both of our children with disabilities have given me a broad and realistic understanding of what many of you are facing for the rest of your lives. My heart is that here you will be equipped and strengthened to move forward with great hope.

Are you considering a higher level of care for your special needs child? Join my Facebook group RPSN to meet other caretakers who are also considering the process, have already started or currently have loved ones in a residential facility. When my husband and I decided to place our autistic son in a facility at the age of 12 due to his aggressive behaviors, it was the hardest and heaviest time of our lives. As we shared our story publicly, many caregivers on the same path stepped forward and gave us the strength we needed to keep going. This is why I formed the RPSN and pray it is a life line for you as it has been for me.
